Our verdict

The data points to a narrow but unambiguous profile: mid-market and enterprise / Shopify Plus merchants with high AOV, high chargeback exposure, or large international order volume — electronics, luxury, home, grocery. The 100% financial guarantee on approved orders is the only structural differentiator in this category, and the Commerce Network's claim of 98% known-shopper recognition (per signifyd.com) is the kind of network-effect moat that's hard to replicate. Two operational facts matter more than the absence of a published price card. First, pricing is a percentage of approved-order value — so the unit economics only work where average chargeback cost × baseline fraud rate exceeds the Signifyd fee per order. For high-AOV verticals that math is comfortable; for sub-$50 AOV merchants with low fraud rates, Shopify's native fraud analysis suffices and Signifyd is structurally over-engineered. Second, billed-on-approved-only is the right shape for merchants but Capterra/G2 reviews flag messy billing reconciliation — verify invoice clarity in trial before scaling. For the same reason "limited transparency on order rejection reasoning" appears in operator quotes, expect some good orders to land in the false-positive bucket; the financial guarantee covers chargebacks but not refused-sale CAC.
